UPDATE: 12/9/2024
Someone wanted to know how they can get rid of their Helene storm debris-limbs etc. as they are tired of looking at it. I did speak with the Public Works Director before the council meeting started. He confirmed it was the Pickens County Landfill. He suggest you call first to see if they will take it. Here is the contact information. Hope this helps.
I reached out to the City Administrator to get an update on the debris pickup.
He responded that this is far from completion. Pickens County has an agreement with SCDOT to remove debris from the right of way on all roads except private roads. SCDOT has hired contractors to do this removal. The city has reached out to SCDOT but was unable to get a schedule despite multiple attempts. However, the city was told they will be here until all is removed.
The city crews are also working hard removing debris as well. Pickens County has limited the city to five loads per day. The city administrator also said this may continue into Janurary.
And this is a reminder: limbs, etc must be six feet or less in length and debris must be placed on the right a way, not onto the road way.

Where can homeowners take debris? 3 months of this mess is too long!
